Spring Sports Update

Boys Golf

The boys team finished Team CIF at Miles Square Golf Course with a 7th place finish out of 20 schools. This is a testament to the strength of our league. We finished 5th in Pacific Coast League but 7th in CIF. That’s amazing.

Today, freshman George Lu is in Santa Barbara at Rancho San Marcos Golf Course playing in individual CIF. This is the qualifier for the State Championship.

Go Uni! Go George!!

Boys Swimming

Six of our top swimmers are traveling to the State Swim Championship in Fresno today.  They will be competing on Friday and Saturday.  Best of luck boys!

Boys Tennis

The top ranked boys tennis team lost a heartbreaking semi-final match 8-10 to Peninsula high school on Wednesday.  Junior Aditya Gupta, who committed to UPENN, had an incredible day.  Aditya defeated the #1 player from Peninsula who will be attending and playing for Cal next year 7 to 5.  He also won his other two matches 6-0 and 6-0.

The boys will regroup and get ready for the state tournament which begins next Friday.

Track & Field

Girls Track and Field had our top athletes competing at the Division 1 CIF Prelims this past weekend at Trabuco Hills High School. Many of our girls finished their season running personal bests. Collette Lowengrub capped off her impressive freshman season, running in the 1600 and 3200. She ran a lifetime best of 11:15 in the 3200m and placed 17th overall in a very competitive race. She now ranks in the top 10 freshmen in the entire CIF Southern Section. Sara Sussman tied her personal best time in the 800, running 2:22. In the 300 hurdles, Daria Shkel ran a season best time of 46.60. We look forward to having many of these young athletes back with us next year. Great season Uni Girls Track!

Boys Track finished their season last weekend at the D1 CIF prelims. Our high jumpers matched their lifetime best of 6’ for Sam Kammerman and 6’ 2” for Evan Pariser. The 4 x 100 gave it their best but came up short ( Thomas Manalo, Austin Lake, Jeremy Koo and Faris Qaisi). Faris also competed as an individual in the 200m but had to slow up coming across the finish line after reinjuring his hamstring. Go Boys Trojan Track and Field!
