Boys Lacrosse is busy preparing for their season. Their first official game will be Friday, March 1st against El Dorado at Home.
The Girls Lacrosse program is already deep in to the season, even though season hasn’t officially started! The girls have participated in 3 pre-pre-season tournaments to gain practice and experience before officially kicking off on March 2nd by participating in the annual Rose Bowl tournament in Pasadena. Our first home game is March 5th against Laguna Hills at 4:00 PM (in the stadium), so please come out to support!
Uni Softball kicked off their season with a non-league game at Crean Lutheran on Tuesday. The Trojans were defeated 2-3 but are looking forward to their next game on Tuesday, Feb. 26th v Westminster at home.
The Uni Swim and Dive team are beginning their season today, Feb. 21st with a home meet against Laguna Hills. The meet starts at 3:00 p.m. today at the Uni pool, come out and support!
The boys tennis team has gotten off to a fast start. Last Tuesday the boys defeated San Marino 11 to 7 at San Marino high. Junior Soomin Lee won his two sets, 6-0, at first singles. Senior captain Michael Rudin and Luis Moros won both sets they played at first doubles.
This past Tuesday the boys packed the bus and took the varsity and JV teams to Los Angeles to play the defending D-I and top ranked Wolverines from Harvard-Westlake. The JV team won 11 – 7 at LA Valley College keeping their winning streak alive at 14 years and counting. The boys JV team have not lost a single match since 2005! The varsity team somehow pulled out a victory (9-9 in sets, 79 to 76 on games!) before a packed and hostile crowd at the Weddington Golf and Tennis club. UPenn bound senior Aditya Gupta swept his three matches at first singles to lead the Trojans. Junior Soomin Lee won two of three sets at 2nd singles and Michael Rudin and Cameron Sepahi won two sets at first doubles including the last set on the court to clinch the match for Uni. The boys got back to Uni at 9:30 pm but it was an exciting day.
Track & Field
Boys and Girls Track will officially kick off their season next week against El Modena here at Uni. This meet is the longest standing dual meet Uni has had with any school and has continued for more than 30 years. We look for our returning athletes to put up some good marks and hope to have some surprises from our new and up and coming athletes. Come out and support! Go Uni Track and Field!
After a promising start to the season last weekend at the Tesoro Tournament, the boys volleyball team looks to continue strong play at the Foothill Tournament this Friday and Saturday. First game is at 3:30 at Beckman on Friday, Feb. 22.
